I Want To Speak Now

I am a huge geek. I watch geeky TV shows, movies, play geeky video games all of it. I also run a business that has a blog, podcast, and Amazon FBA business. I try to keep the activities and the business far apart from each other as most people don’t want to talk about Pokemon GO, Stargate, and the dividend yield of their portfolio all at the same time.

I’m not saying those people don’t exist they are just rare, but that’s ok. Those are my people, you are my people.

One of my favorite shows of all times is West Wing. In one of the episodes (video below) President Bartlet is speaking to his Chief of Staff Leo McGarry and after a lot of prodding Bartlet says “I want to speak now”. This is pretty much how I feel about my business.

I was somehow able to grow this site and business on the side of a 40 hour a week job, while doing my volunteer work. However, since I left my job it’s been harder to get work done. No, it doesn’t make sense to me either.

I think it’s because I feel so much more pressure to work, I feel like the things I do now have to be different, and what’s more, they have to be better.

Now that this is my full-time job, I should easily be able to focus on it, spend more time working on it, and it should be amazing, but it’s not. And to be honest, why does it have to be?

Were people reading my blog before I wrote long SEO posts that I boosted with Facebook ads? Yes. Did people listen to me long before I had a podcast? Yes.

And they didn’t do it because of the amount of time I put in. They came because they liked what they were reading. And you know what, it was absolutely fantastic.

I love you guys, with out you I never would have started a side hustle, got some of my debt paid off, or left my 9 to 5 of 11 years to live the life of my dreams and work for myself. You are the lifeblood of my business, you are my why.

So, why has it been so difficult to produce content lately? Because I forgot about you, I started worrying about writing an article that’s SEO perfect, that will drive a lot of traffic, that will give me a lot of ad revenue and affiliate sales.

Those things are important, without them I wouldn’t be here, but they can’t be my reason for doing this, and they aren’t.

At the end of the scene on West Wing Indo Bola88, Leo hands a pad of paper to Bartlet that he says is “the beginnings of a plan” which says “Let Bartlet be Bartlet”, and I think the same plan will work for me.

So, you are not going to get a personal notation of my life, and things that are only important to me. I will, however, be working my life and what’s going on more into my brand, more into what’s going on and how you can change your life too.

I still have so much work to do, but I want to speak now. I want to tell you that if you love this site, thank you for being here, thanks for staying with me through the years. Thanks for giving me the encouragement to go on. Thanks for being you, for wanting to follow my journey, and hopefully for wanting to change your own life.
